SUMMARY:Members - Memorial ABCD Scramble
DESCRIPTION:Memorial ABCD Scramble \nSunday May 24\, 2026 \nThe Memorial ABCD Scramble is open to all Poland Spring Members with active GHIN handicap and will consist of an 18 hole four player scramble. \nFORMAT:  Each team member hits a tee shot on each hole. The team then collectively decides which of the four balls is in the best position to play next. After the team decides which ball is best\, mark the position with a tee\, each player retrieves their ball\, and plays a shot from the new designated position. This procedure is repeated for each shot until a ball is holed. A player’s lie may be improved by one club length (no closer to the hole) through the green with the exception of hazards. For example\, if you elect to play a ball from a sand trap\, the player whose ball you have chosen to play must play the ball as it lies and then the other team members will be allowed to place the ball (no closer to the hole). Once players have reached the green\, the ball may not be placed to improve a player’s lie (must be placed at spot where it lies).   All putts must be holed out. No gimmies.  Each member of the team must use his/her tee shot once. \nTEAMS – Teams will be determined after the close of registration on Friday August 1st.  Teams will be made by placing A’s from low to high\, B’s from high to low\, C’s from low to high and D’s from high to low. DESCRIPTION:  \nFriday July 4\, 2025 \nGet your foursome and register for the Freedom Flag Challenge. \nREGISTRATION OPENS – June 4\, 2026 at 10:00am \nREGISTRATION CLOSES –  July 2\, 2026 at 10:00an   \nMembers can register by contacting the Pro Shop at (207)998-6002 or by clicking the link below and registering online through the Poland Spring Golf Genius portal. \nREGISTRATION LINK – \nTEE TIMES – Member Times \nENTRY FEE – $25.00 per player \nFlag Tourney features individual\, 18 hole\, stroke play format in which golfers begin the round of golf with an allotment of strokes\, then play until those strokes run out.  Flags are given to competitors before the round. The golfers stick those flags in the ground at the point from which their ball comes to rest on their final shot allotted.  The golfer who stakes his flag the farthest around the course is the winner. \nHere’s an example: Let’s say your allotment is 75 strokes. You play the golf course until you hit your 75th shot\, which\, let’s say\, comes to rest on the 16th fairway. That’s where you plant your flag\, on the place your ball came to rest on your final stroke. If no other player’s flag is planted beyond yours (say\, on the 16th green or 17th tee box) you are the winner. \nDETERMINING STROKE ALLOTMENT – Full handicap (100%) will determine the stroke allotment. Using full handicaps\, a golfer playing Poland Spring\, a par-71 golf course and who has a course handicap of 14\, for example\, receives 85 strokes (71 for the course’s par rating plus 14 for the golfer’s handicap) as his tournament stroke allotment. \nUsing full handicaps often means that several golfers will reach the end of 18 holes with strokes left to use. SUMMARY:Members - Mid Summer ABCD Scramble
DESCRIPTION:Mid Summer ABCD Scramble \nSunday August 2\, 2026  \nThe Mid – Summer ABCD Scramble is open to all Poland Spring Members with active GHIN handicap. \nThe Mid – Summer ABCD will consist of an 18 hole four player scramble. \nFORMAT:  Each team member hits a tee shot on each hole. The team then collectively decides which of the four balls is in the best position to play next. After the team decides which ball is best\, mark the position with a tee\, each player retrieves their ball\, and plays a shot from the new designated position. This procedure is repeated for each shot until a ball is holed. A player’s lie may be improved by one club length (no closer to the hole) through the green with the exception of hazards. For example\, if you elect to play a ball from a sand trap\, the player whose ball you have chosen to play must play the ball as it lies and then the other team members will be allowed to place the ball (no closer to the hole). Once players have reached the green\, the ball may not be placed to improve a player’s lie (must be placed at spot where it lies).   All putts must be holed out. No gimmies.  Each member of the team must use his/her tee shot once. \nTEAMS – Teams will be determined after the close of registration.  Teams will be made by placing A’s from low to high\, B’s from high to low\, C’s from low to high and D’s from high to low. DESCRIPTION:Norm Nolette Chapter Raises Nearly $1 Million Since Golf Tournament’s Inception\n\n\n\n September 27\, 2023 | CU Collaboration and Chapter Activity\, Ending Hunger. Since 1995\, the Norm Nolette Chapter of Credit Unions has hosted an annual golf tournament to benefit the Campaign for Ending Hunger. This year’s event was held on August 24 at the Poland Spring Golf Course and raised an outstanding $60\,200\, exceeding their previous highest fundraising total by $3\,200!\nThe culmination of the Norm Nolette Chapter’s twenty-eighth tournament also signifies another significant milestone: this event has raised $964\,171.58 since its start—nearly $1 million! All proceeds throughout the years have been directed to the Campaign.“When the chapter began hosting this tournament back in 1995\, I don’t think any of us could have imagined how much it would grow and raise in support of the Campaign for Ending Hunger\,” said Denise Nowinski\, Director of Education and Member Relations at Tricorp FCU. “This truly is an event that the credit unions in three states look forward to each year. It is a great way to connect\, have fun\, and raise money to help combat hunger in Maine.”The credit unions in the chapter lent a helping hand\, from securing sponsorships to working it day-of. Their collaborative efforts made the event a huge success. Tricorp FCU specifically feels a special tie to carrying this tournament out each year\, as Norm Nolette was the very first CEO at Tricorp.For the past 24 years\, the Tricorp FCU has led the chapter in organizing and coordinating the event\, along with a committee of chapter credit union employees. The tournament location holds significance\, as well\, as it was Norm Nolette’s favorite course to play.
