DESCRIPTION:Norm Nolette Chapter Raises Nearly $1 Million Since Golf Tournament’s Inception\n\n\n\n September 27\, 2023 | CU Collaboration and Chapter Activity\, Ending Hunger. Since 1995\, the Norm Nolette Chapter of Credit Unions has hosted an annual golf tournament to benefit the Campaign for Ending Hunger. This year’s event was held on August 24 at the Poland Spring Golf Course and raised an outstanding $60\,200\, exceeding their previous highest fundraising total by $3\,200!\nThe culmination of the Norm Nolette Chapter’s twenty-eighth tournament also signifies another significant milestone: this event has raised $964\,171.58 since its start—nearly $1 million! All proceeds throughout the years have been directed to the Campaign.“When the chapter began hosting this tournament back in 1995\, I don’t think any of us could have imagined how much it would grow and raise in support of the Campaign for Ending Hunger\,” said Denise Nowinski\, Director of Education and Member Relations at Tricorp FCU. “This truly is an event that the credit unions in three states look forward to each year. It is a great way to connect\, have fun\, and raise money to help combat hunger in Maine.”The credit unions in the chapter lent a helping hand\, from securing sponsorships to working it day-of. Their collaborative efforts made the event a huge success. Tricorp FCU specifically feels a special tie to carrying this tournament out each year\, as Norm Nolette was the very first CEO at Tricorp.For the past 24 years\, the Tricorp FCU has led the chapter in organizing and coordinating the event\, along with a committee of chapter credit union employees. The tournament location holds significance\, as well\, as it was Norm Nolette’s favorite course to play. DESCRIPTION:Vision and legacy of the Gerber’s\n\n“In 1977\, brothers Saul and Phil Gerber were both members of the Maine Seniors. The Maine Seniors was the only senior golf association in the state and membership was limited to their member courses of Portland\, Augusta\, York and Martindale.  The outside waiting list was ten years.  They decided to do something about it so that their seniors friends from Riverside\, Purpoodock and other courses in southern Maine would be able to play senior tournaments.  They enlisted the help of Purpoodock members Joe Alberti and Buzzer Feeney and starter to sign up seniors from surrounding courses. \nThe first year courses were Riverside\, Purpoodock\, Willowdale\, Biddeford-Saco\, Cape Arundel\, Webhannet\, Gorham and York.  The golf courses were almost empty on Tuesday’s and they welcomed the additional play.  A light lunch was included with golf and forty-five years later the association and good times on the links still exist. \nSaul passed away in 1993 and his son John assisted his uncle Phil in continuing to organize the tournaments.  With the passing of Phil in 1996\, John expanded the membership and added other golf courses in southern Maine and has run the tournaments for the past twenty-eight years. \nI think\, with my father’s vision\, thousands of golfers\, both amateur and professional\, have enjoyed senior golf through the years.” \nJohn Gerber\, 2021

A graduate of Gould Academy\, she and her husband\, Rupert were a founders of Grover Gundrilling\, Inc.\, Suzanne’s generosity toward the needy was astounding. Almost every day you would find her picking up food in her big black SUV at Wal-mart to personally distribute the donated food to the food pantries. \nPoland Spring will donate the course\, carts and food to get us our way to raising lots of money for the two food banks! \nBring food (not water) and every pound of food you give you’ll get a raffle ticket for some great prizes! \n

SUMMARY:Members - Memorial ABCD Scramble
DESCRIPTION:Memorial ABCD Scramble \nSunday May 24\, 2026 \nThe Memorial ABCD Scramble is open to all Poland Spring Members with active GHIN handicap and will consist of an 18 hole four player scramble. \nFORMAT:  Each team member hits a tee shot on each hole. The team then collectively decides which of the four balls is in the best position to play next. After the team decides which ball is best\, mark the position with a tee\, each player retrieves their ball\, and plays a shot from the new designated position. This procedure is repeated for each shot until a ball is holed. A player’s lie may be improved by one club length (no closer to the hole) through the green with the exception of hazards. For example\, if you elect to play a ball from a sand trap\, the player whose ball you have chosen to play must play the ball as it lies and then the other team members will be allowed to place the ball (no closer to the hole). Once players have reached the green\, the ball may not be placed to improve a player’s lie (must be placed at spot where it lies).   All putts must be holed out. No gimmies.  Each member of the team must use his/her tee shot once. \nTEAMS – Teams will be determined after the close of registration on Friday August 1st.  Teams will be made by placing A’s from low to high\, B’s from high to low\, C’s from low to high and D’s from high to low. See chart below for more information. \nTEE TIME – Assigned Tee Times starting at 7:00 am \nPURSE – Top Gross team finishers will be awarded prize money\, determined by finishing position\, in the form of Pro Shop Credit.  All Pro Shop Credit should be used by October 15th.  . \nPoland Spring reserves the right to extend the deadline if the field is not full at the scheduled close time. Eligible Members can register by contacting the Pro Shop at (207)998-6002 or by clicking the link below and registering online through the Poland Spring Golf Genius portal. \nREGISTRATION LINK – \nENTRY FEE – $25.00 per player\, payable in the Pro Shop only. \nMULLIGANS – $5.00 per player Available in Pro Shop\, (1 Mulligan per player) \nRULES OF GOLF – All play will be governed by The Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA\, except as modified by Local Rules.
