DESCRIPTION:Vision and legacy of the Gerber’s\n\n“In 1977\, brothers Saul and Phil Gerber were both members of the Maine Seniors. The Maine Seniors was the only senior golf association in the state and membership was limited to their member courses of Portland\, Augusta\, York and Martindale.  The outside waiting list was ten years.  They decided to do something about it so that their seniors friends from Riverside\, Purpoodock and other courses in southern Maine would be able to play senior tournaments.  They enlisted the help of Purpoodock members Joe Alberti and Buzzer Feeney and starter to sign up seniors from surrounding courses. \nThe first year courses were Riverside\, Purpoodock\, Willowdale\, Biddeford-Saco\, Cape Arundel\, Webhannet\, Gorham and York.  The golf courses were almost empty on Tuesday’s and they welcomed the additional play.  A light lunch was included with golf and forty-five years later the association and good times on the links still exist. \nSaul passed away in 1993 and his son John assisted his uncle Phil in continuing to organize the tournaments.  With the passing of Phil in 1996\, John expanded the membership and added other golf courses in southern Maine and has run the tournaments for the past twenty-eight years. \nI think\, with my father’s vision\, thousands of golfers\, both amateur and professional\, have enjoyed senior golf through the years.” \nJohn Gerber\, 2021

He will bring a great day of golf and fun for all! \nSuzanne Grover\, 73\, of Norway\, passed away on Jan. 10\, 2018. A graduate of Gould Academy\, she and her husband\, Rupert were a founders of Grover Gundrilling\, Inc.\, Suzanne’s generosity toward the needy was astounding. Almost every day you would find her picking up food in her big black SUV at Wal-mart to personally distribute the donated food to the food pantries. \nPoland Spring will donate the course\, carts and food to get us our way to raising lots of money for the two food banks! \nBring food (not water) and every pound of food you give you’ll get a raffle ticket for some great prizes! \n

DESCRIPTION:2025 Men’s Member Guest   \nSunday September 28 \nThe Men’s Member Guest will allow for 18 Hole\, Better Ball of Partners Tournament. Two partners compete together as a side\, with each player playing his or her own ball\, and a side’s score for a hole is the lower score of the two partners on that hole. Members may have 1-3 guests that will consist of 1-3 teams (Member & Guest 1\, Member & Guest 2\, Member & Guest 3)  Lunch\, cash bar and awards following play. \nMembers can register online or by contacting the Pro Shop at (207)998-6002.  Members will be responsible for guest name\, guest GHIN #\, guest home course and home course state at registration.  If guest does not carry a GHIN handicap the committee will need guest’s last five (5) scores\, course par\, course slope and course rating. \nREGISTRATION LINK: Golf Genius Member Tournament Series Portal \nREGISTRATION OPENS: – August 31 at 10:00 AM \nREGISTRATION CLOSES – September 25 at 10:00 AM \nREGISTRATION FEE – $75.00 per player \nTEE TIME – Shotgun Start 9:00 am \nTEES – White & Green \nTIES – Ties broken from most difficult to least difficult hole. \nHANDICAP – 90% \nSCORE POSTING – Scores not posted due to mulligans. \nADDITIONAL EVENT PACKAGE – $25 per player includes Mulligans\, 50 /50. The Rules Committee will have the final authority on all rulings. From April to October\, we offer men’s and women’s one-day tournaments open to players of all abilities. All players that belong to a Maine Golf member club and have an active Handicap Index® are eligible to play in these fun events. \nWhile these tournaments are more laid back and informal than our championship events\, by no means are they without fun and competition!
